Big Rose. Big circles coined on billets with concentric damascene layers gives circles in the center and wavy structure towards the borders. Ground bars in stock.

Hakka. The pattern is developed during the hot working to a flat dimension. Pattern coining of a zig-zag shaped structure is performed as a last operation. Only ground surfaces in stock.

Dragon Bone (Heims). Twisted Bluetounge roundbar, forged to flat dimensions. Ground and black bars in stock.

Muhammeds Ladder. A wavy structure is coined on Bluetounge material. Then ground flat. Ground bars in stock.

Odin's Eye. Pattern coining on billets with concentric damascene layers gives eyes in the center and wavy structure towards the borders. Ground bars in stock.

Rose is pattern coined to a knotty surface. After grinding, concentric rings are seen in the middle part. Towards the border the pattern is more Random-like. Ground bars in stock.

Twist. The laminated billet is rolled to a round dimension. In a special operation the bar is twisted and then forged to flat dimensions. Stocked in black or ground surface standard.

Wild is random structure, forged from bars of the concentric lamination type. Ground and black bars in stock.

Staal - Roestvrijstaal - Poederstaal

ATS-34
RWL-34

RWL-34 is één van de ingredienten die voor de Damascener staal gebruikt wordt. (De ander is PMC-27)

RWL-34 is een staalsoort die veel voor messen gebruikt wordt. Deze poederstaal is extreem roestbestendig in verhouding met de gebruikelijke soorten.

 De Linkse afbeelding is ATS-34 en de Rechtse RWL-34. (100 X vergroot)

Er zijn verschillende generaties staal. De eerste "generatie" staal roest nog redelijk.
O-1, W-1, 1095, vascowear, en D-2 zijn bijvoorbeeld staalsoorten die tot deze catagorie behoren.

Hierna volgt de roestvrijstaal "groep" deze groep is goed roest bestendig en daar zitten namen tussen die de verzamelaars meer aanspreken. Enige voorbeelden hiervan zijn 440-C, AUS-8, GIN-1, ATS-34, 12C27 en 154CM.

Er zijn nu andere technieken, die het mogelijk maken een "nieuwe betere" generatie staal te fabriceren.
Waaronder poedermetalurgisch staal.(in het kort poederstaal)
Voorbeelden hiervan zijn CPM440V, Elmax, RWL-34 en CPMT44
Ook PMC27 is een poederstaal en lijkt qua samenstelling op 12C27.

NB
Natuurlijk zijn er uitzonderingen en andere soorten materialen waar messen van gemaakt worden.
